Snow realityNo overselling
This is where China's snow story flips. Altay sits in the same continental snow belt as Siberia's best, and Jiangjunshan gets genuine, regular natural snowfall — cold, dry, light. It's a city resort, so don't expect endless freeride lines: the in-bounds terrain is mostly groomed and mid-sized. But the snow underfoot is real, and after a storm the sides of the pistes stay soft for days because there's hardly anyone here to ski it out.

People who flew five hours for big-mountain terrain — this is the warm-up act. Jikepulin and Keketuohai are the main event.
Getting there
Fly to Altay (AAT) — usually via Urumqi (~1 hr hop), with some seasonal direct flights from major cities. The resort is ~10–15 min from downtown Altay by taxi. Note the 2026–27 promotion: show an arrival flight ticket and ski free (excl. Chinese New Year) — ask us for current terms.
Where to stay
Altay city hotels, $25–70/night — genuinely comfortable at the top end. No need for slopeside lodging when town is 10 minutes away.
How tickets actually get bought
On-site counters and WeChat mini-program; essentially no English online channel. Local promos (free-with-flight-ticket, locals' discounts) change monthly and are published only in Chinese.
